Honda has promised to release 10 new models of electric motorcycles in the next three years

Honda has announced plans to release ten new models of electric motorcycles by the end of 2025. The Japanese company is the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles, with total sales of more than 400 million units during its lifetime.

Influenced by the success of electric motorcycle startups such as Zero Motorcycles and Energica, the company announced plans to release four electric motorcycle models back in 2021. Then in March 2022, Honda announced its first production electric motorcycle, the CRF-E2. It has small dimensions, as it is intended for young riders. The motorcycle is equipped with an electric motor with a maximum power of 2.5 kW and a replaceable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 20 A·h. The weight of the motorcycle is 106 pounds (48 kg).

Honda now plans to release at least 10 new electric motorcycle models in the next three years. The company plans to achieve annual sales of electric motorcycles in the amount of 3.5 million units by 2030, or about 15% of the total volume of sales. All new models will be equipped with solid-state batteries, which are still under development. The launch of battery production is scheduled for 2024. According to the company, plans to launch 10 new electric motorcycle models are part of its strategy to achieve carbon neutrality in the motorcycle division by 2040.

In May of this year, Honda revealed the design of its first mass-market electric car, the Honda Prologue, which is expected to go on sale in 2024. The company also announced that its electric vehicles will begin production in North America and go on sale in 2026. From 2026, Honda will produce electric cars based on its new e:Architecture architecture. In a year, the company will begin production of a new series of affordable electric cars on a new platform developed jointly with GM. And by 2030, the company expects to sell about 500,000 electric cars in North America.
