The US government has banned Apple from importing the Apple Watch Series 6 to the US

According to the decision of the US International Trade Commission (ITC), Apple cannot import some models of its Apple Watch into the US due to a patent dispute with Masimo, a medical company that specializes in measuring blood oxygen levels.

This was reported by 9to5Mac.

According to the ITC, Apple has infringed two Masimo patents related to technologies for measuring blood oxygen levels. This technology was introduced in the Apple Watch Series 6 in 2020.

It’s worth noting that since the release of the Series 6, every new Apple Watch model except the SE has been equipped with a blood oxygen monitoring function, but the ITC does not specify whether the ban will apply only to the Apple Watch Series 6 or to other models.

The ITC’s decision has not yet entered into force, it depends on the presidential administration, which may veto it. Even if this is not done, Apple may appeal and seek to have the ITC’s decision overturned.
